Galaxy’s Edge is Opening May 31st at Disneyland!

This morning it was announced that “Star Wars Land” or Galaxy’s Edge will be coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World earlier than expected: May 31st and August 29th respectively!  That is so soon!

But basically, here is the short version for the Disneyland Resort Galaxy’s Edge opening:

• Galaxy’s Edge will be opening in two Phases. The dates above are for Phase 1 and will include most Land offering except for the attraction Rise of the Resistance which is coming in Phase 2 later in the year.

• Guests will need to book a no-cost reservation to enter Galaxy’s Edge between May 31st and June 23rd.  This will be done online in advance (more info to come later).

• Guests who are staying at the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Paradise Pier, or Disney’s Grand Californian will automatically receive Galaxy’s Edge reservations.

• There will initially be no FastPasses or MaxPasses given for the attraction Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.

I am so excited!  I think all this news is great news.  This seems like a really great way to limit crowds and guarantee a more quality experience for those inside.  It will be difficult for those who don’t get reservations, however, which is why I think booking at a Disney hotel is your best bet if you want to experience Galaxy’s Edge the first month it is open.
